Fair Trade Public Procurement, a tool for Join the special conference at the Dortmund Westfalenhalle, Germany, on 24th September 2010 Mobilising action for Fair Trade Public Procurement: the European Picture The final conference of Public Affairs project aims at presenting the key outputs of the project’s research and successful initiatives by committed local and regional authorities. The conference will also set the state of play of Fair Trade Public Procurement (FTPP) in Europe, and explain how to continue using FTPP as a tool to support sustainable development and in particular marginalized producers from the South.
FA!R 2010 - the trade fair for Fair Trade! This European wide event will be held in the frame of FA!R 2010 - the trade fair for Fair Trade!, organised in Dortmund from the 23rd to the 25th September, during the German Fair Trade week. More than 80 exhibitors and various events such as a fair fashion show of “fashion and accessoires”, wine tastings and many more events will show the entire diversity of Fair Trade. 3000 visitors are expected. More information on www.fair2010.de Tackling all the key issues of FTPP During the conference, you will discuss with European experts how Fair procurement can help public authorities to support sustainable development in general. Specifically, there will be parallel workshops focusing on food (catering, canteens, etc.), textiles (clothing, uniforms) and specific legal issues (do’s & don’ts) which will be organised. High-level speakers from EU institutions, legal experts, producers and many other expert stakeholders will be invited. Addressing the specific situation of New Member States A specific activity will be dedicated to typical issues of interest for the organisations and procurers coming from EU member states where Fair Trade awareness is still low, in order to help them in mobilising their local authorities in favour of Fair Trade purchasing.
